The new adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Tarzan of the Apes is still alive. Director David Yates (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2) has been developing the project since 2012, but earlier this year Warner Bros. had some concerns regarding the budget and put a stop to the whole thing, delaying the project to 2014, but now with word that actor Christoph Waltz is in talks to play the main villain opposite Alexander Skarsgard, seems to have put the project back on the table.
Per Variety,
Waltz s in talks to play the villain opposite Skarsgard who will Tarzan. At some
point Jessica Chastain was attached to play Jane, apparently now actress’ Emma
Stone and Margot Robbie are also in the race for the character.
If
the movie is finally approved, the project could in theory start shooting in mid-2014
with a late 2015 or summer 2016 release.
