News that CBS had order a pilot for a series based on the popular film Beverly Hills Cop starring Eddie Murphy was welcomed by some. The series was being developed by Murphy, Shawn Ryan (The Shield) with Barry Sonnenfeld directing and Brandon T. Jackson, Kevin Pollak and David Denman starring, a pilot was even shot and apparently it even tested well but for some reason CBS dropped the project and no other network jumped on the opportunity, until Paramount Pictures decided that this was a good opportunity to grab the material but with a twist, it’s no longer a series but a new movie.
It’s
still unclear if they are sticking to the;
"Axel Foley’s blue-collar police officer son, Aaron, who helps take
down the criminal elements of the rich and famous in Beverly Hills while trying
to escape the shadow of his larger-than-life father.", that the series was
about or if they are going to change it.
Here is the tweet that Shawn Ryan sent.
