After some rumors, it appears that Sam Mendes is going to direct the next installment
of the 007 franchise.
Apparently
after saying the he wouldn’t do the next James Bond film, Sam Mendes, who
directed, Skyfall, as had a change of heart. Mendes said that because he had
two theater productions (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and King Lear) on
the way, he didn’t have the time to be thinking and/or dedicate to another
James Bond film.
After
declining the offer made by Barbara Broccoli and Michael H. Wilson (the
producers and owners of the James Bond brand), Nicolas Winding Refn, Ang Lee
and other directors met with EON Productions and Sony about becoming the next
directors of the franchise, but apparently the producers of the hugely successful
franchise agreed to wait for Mendes to finish with both plays before returning
to take the helm of Bond.
The
next installment of Bond should arrive in 2016.
