Disney
finally decided on the director for the upcoming Pirates Of The Caribbean 5,
and although unexpected, a logical decision. The duo Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg
from Kon-Tiki were the ones chosen in a list that had Fredrik Bon (The Necessay
Death Of Charlie Countryman) and Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman).
Kon-Tiki’s directors, Rønning and Sandberg have had the blessings of Jerry Brukheimer, the
producer and Johnny Depp the main star, who should come back to reprise his
role as Captain Jack Sparrow.
For those unfamiliar with the breakthrough film of this duo of Norwegian
directors, Kon-Tiki tells the story of legendary explorer Thor Heyerdal and his
crossing of the 4.3000 miles of the Pacific Ocean in a balsa woodraft, back in
1947. Thor makes this epic travel, just to prove that it was possible for South
Americans to settle in Polynesia in pre-Columbian times. Kon-Tiki was nominated
for an Academy Award, Best Foreign Language Film and won the Norwegian
International Film Festival, Audience Award.
Pirates
Of The Caribbean 5 should start its production later on this year or in the
very beginning of next year.
Although
Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides raked over a billion dollars at the
box-office, it got mixed reviews, so the
people back at Disney are making sure that the script is rock solid before
jumping into production.
At
this point is still unclear if the whole cast is getting back together, what is
known is that Johnny Depp is returning to his role has the brave, weird,
self-centered and altruistic, Captain Jack Sparrow.
Pirates
Of The Caribbean 5 is schedule to hit theaters on July 10, 2015.
