Monsters: Dark Continent

The 2010 sci-fi monster masterpiece Monsters is getting a sequel titled Monsters: Dark Continent, and according to Vertigo they have already began shooting it. The first movie was the breakthrough film for director Gareth Edwards which was nominated for a BAFTA and saw his movie starring Scoot Mcnairy win four Britsh Independent Film Awards among other international film festival awards. Directing Monsters: Dark Continent will be Tom Green and not Edwards since he is currently shooting the remake of Godzilla in Canada. This will be a debut for Tom Green in a feature, whom had previously directed the cult tv hit Misfits
The story for Monsters: Dark Continent takes some time after the first film. In this movie the infected zones have spread all over the world, everyone tries to survive the best way they can, while the US military forces are fighting the monsters and trying to wipe them out. The protagonists fight off resistance that comes from everywhere and not just from the monsters.
The cast for Monsters: Dark Continent includes Sam Keeley (What Richard Did), Johnny Harris (Welcome to the Punch) and Joe Dempsie (Game of Thrones). Gareth Edwards and Scoot Mcnairy will be returning as excutive producers to this film written by Jay Basu.
Co-producer Ben Puch says,

“Gareth Edwards created a rich and evocative sci-fi world with Monsters and it’s a privilege to go deeper into that world for Monsters: Dark Continent
with Tom Green, Vertigo and a very exciting cast”.

And producer Allan Niblo says,

“Monsters: Dark Continent is a sci-fi action film that remains true to the artistry and intelligence of its prequel Monsters as well as providing the excitement,
thrills and set pieces of a genre film. We’re very excited to see Tom Green’s vision unfold”.

On a personal note i loved the first film, i though it was original, well directed and well preformed, but with sequels... you know.

P.S. Do not confuse this Tom Green, the director of the film with this one...
