Academy Award-nominee
Hailee Steinfeld is in talks to join Paramount's forthcoming
Transformers spinoff movie Bumblebee.
Travis Knight (LAIKA's
President and director of "Kubo and the Two Strings") is set to
direct the project centered on the yellow and black striped Autobot that
frequently appears in the main Transformers franchise.
Plot details are
being kept under wraps, but should Steinfeld join the project she will play a
tomboy who works as a mechanic after school.
The Transformers
franchise has grossed over $3.7 billion worldwide, with the new installment,
Transformers: The Last Knight, set to open in theaters on June 23.
Bumblebee has been
scheduled to premiere on June 8, 2018.
Steinfeld was
nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role on Ethan and
Joel Coen's remake of True Grit. Most recently, she wrapped Pitch Perfect 3.
