Ahead of the final trailer for War of
the Planet of the Apes, which will arrive tomorrow, 20th Century Fox has
released an evocative teaser for Matt Reeves follow-up to Dawn of the Planet of
the Apes.
Although it doesn't feature much in
terms of actual new footage, the teaser sets the mood for the film thanks to the
imagery it provides as well as the recording of Charlton Heston quoting William
Faulkner's famous Nobel Prize acceptance speech from 1949.
War of the Planet of the Apes picks up two years after the last film, and sees Caesar (Andy Serkis) and his apes being forced into a
deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel (Woody
Harrelson). After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his
darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the
journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted
against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their
species and the future of the planet.
