Universal Pictures has unveiled a new
featurette for Alex Kurtzman's The Mummy, which introduces us to the Prodigium,
an organization dedicated to studying and fighting ancient monsters led by Russell
Crowe's Dr. Jekyll and of course Mr. Hyde.
Written by Jon Spaihts ("Prometheus") and
Christopher McQuarrie ("Edge of Tomorrow"), The Mummy stars Sofia
Boutella ("Star Trek Beyond") as an awakened ancient princess who
brings with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human
comprehension.
Also starring Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, and Courtney
B. Vance, The Mummy opens in theaters on June 9, 2017.
Thought safely entombed in a tomb deep beneath the
unforgiving desert, an ancient princess (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly
taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence
grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.
From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through
hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in
an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.
