Eva
Green has entered negotiations to star in Tim Burton's Dumbo live-action movie
for Disney.
Based on Disney's 1941
animated movie, Dumbo tells the story of a baby circus elephant that is made
fun of for having been born with big hears and is forcefully separated from his
mother. Dumbo later learns how to use them to fly, becoming a circus star, and
reuniting with his mother.
Plot details are being kept
under wraps for now, but sources claim that in this version of events, the
circus portion of the story will be much more developed in comparison to the
original film with four lead human characters in addition to the CGI elephant.
The actress will play a
trapeze artist who works for the circus, whose owner is the villain of the
movie.
Will Smith was at one point in
talks to play a widowed father with two kids, but negotiations broke down. Chris
Pine was then approached, but negotiation also broke down.
Should Green sign onto the
project, Dumbo will mark her third time working with Burton following
Dark Shadows, and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.
