Sony Pictures feature
film adaptation of Uncharted took a big step forward today with the
announcement that Shawn Levy, the director behind the Night at the Museum
franchise, the first The Pink Panther reboot starring Steve Martin, and a
couple of episodes of Netflix's Stranger Things, is set to helm the adaptation
of the popular video game.
Joe Carnahan, who
wrote the most recent version of the script, was at one point eyeing the
director's chair, but he moved on to instead direct Bad Boys For Life, the
action comedy marking the reunion of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.
Though his last feature
directorial effort was two years ago in 2014 with Night at the Museum: Secret
of the Tomb, Levy has been busy producing many project including Netflix's
Stanger Things, Denis Villeneuve's Arrival, Table 19 by the Duplass brothers, and
Fist Fight starring Ice Cube, Charlie Day, and Christina Hendricks.
