The Walt Disney Animation Studios has released a
couple of new clips from Moana, John Musker
("Aladdin") and Ron Clements' ("Treasure Planet ") latest feature animation for the studio.
The first clip is a back and forth between Auli'i
Cravalho's titular Moana and Dwayne Johnson's demigod Maui, while the second clip
is a musical moment featuring lyrics by multiple Tony Award-winning artist Lin-Manuel Miranda ("Hamilton")
titled "You're Welcome."
Besides Miranda's original songs, Moana also
features songs and music by Opetaia Foa'I and Mark Mancina.
In the film, Moana and Maui set out on a daring
adventure to save her people, fulfill the ancient quest of her ancestors, and discover
the one thing she has always sought: her own identity.
Opening in theaters on November 23, Moana also
stars Temuera Morrinson, Rachel House, Jemaine Clement, Alan Tudyk, Phillipa Soo, and Nicole Scherzinger.
Three thousand years ago, the greatest sailors in the
world voyaged across the vast Pacific, discovering the many islands of Oceania.
But then, for a millennium, their voyages stopped – and no one knows exactly
why. From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes “Moana,” a sweeping, CG-animated
feature film about an adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to
save her people. During her journey, Moana (voice of Auli‘i Cravalho) meets the
mighty demigod Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson), who guides her in her quest to
become a master wayfinder. Together, they sail across the open ocean on an
action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds, and
along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers
the one thing she’s always sought: her own identity.
