One of the funniest
films of 2014 and in fact the last decade was the vampire mokumentary What We
Do in the Shadows from directors Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement.
The film centers on four surprisingly mundane vampires
- Vladislav (Clement), Viago (Waititi), Petyr (Ben Fransham), Deacon (Jonathan
Brugh) - who share a house in modern-day Wellington.
Now, according to Radio New Zealand News, New Zealand
On Air or NZOA, has picked up a six-episode spinoff television series of the
mokumentary titled Paranormal Event Response Unit by both Waititi and Clement.
The show focuses on police officers Karen and Mike,
who "keep us safe from supernatural phenomena in their own police reality
series", NZOA said.
Waititi has responded to the news via Twitter.
The cops from Shadows are getting their own TV show. Think Mulder & Scully but in a country where nothing happens.https://t.co/fxYQhheWPG— Taika Waititi (@TaikaWaititi) 30 de setembro de 2016
The existence of a television spinoff series doesn't
exclude We're Wolves, a film sequel that Clement is still writing and that will
focus on Anton (Rhys Darby) the werewolf.
