Mark Rylance Reunites With Steven Spielberg For Ready Player One

Ready for some nostalgia?

Mark Rylance is teaming up with Steven Spielberg once again for the challenging big screen adaptation of Ernest Cline's bestselling sci-fi novel, Ready Player One.

Rylance will play James Donovan Halliday, the creator of the OASIS and a key figure in the plot of the film. The Academy Award winning actor joins Olivia Cooke, Tye Sheridan, Simon Pegg, and Ben Mendelsohn.

"In the year 2044, reality is an ugly place. The only time teenage Wade Watts (Sheridan) really feels alive is when he's jacked into the virtual utopia known as the OASIS. Wade's devoted his life to studying the puzzles hidden within this world's digital confines, puzzles that are based on their creator's obsession with the pop culture of decades past and that promise massive power and fortune to whoever can unlock them. When Wade stumbles upon the first clue, he finds himself beset by players willing to kill to take this ultimate prize. The race is on, and if Wade's going to survive, he'll have to win—and confront the real world he's always been so desperate to escape."

Ready Player One marks the fourth time the actor will work with Spielberg. The first came in 2015 with Bridge of Spies, for which the actor received multiple accolades including the Oscar for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.

Since then, the actor has joined two other Spielberg projects, the first one being the big screen adaptation of Roald Dahl's family friendly The BFG where he plays the titular Big Friendly Giant, and the second being the period drama, The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara.

Ready Player One opens in theaters on March 30, 2018.
