It looks like Disney
and Lucasfilm have narrowed down their field of possible candidates to play the
"next" Han Solo in the upcoming Star Wars Story movie to just one
actor.
After a series of
screen tests, Alden Ehrenreich's name has emerged as the likeliest contender to
play the coveted role, leaving behind Taron Egerton ("Kingsman"),
Jack Reynor ("Macbeth"), Jack O'Connell (Unbroken), and Blake Jenner
("Everybody Wants Some!!").
Ehrenreich gave a standout
performance in this year's Hail, Caesar! from the Coen brothers, and is set to
lead Warren Beatty's yet untitled Howard Hughes project.
The Lego Movie
directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller will be directing the young Han Solo
movie, which is said to be focusing on Solo's days before joining the rebel
alliance. The project is scheduled for a May 25, 2018 release.
