After
Ben Affleck's debut as the Dark Knight in Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn
of Justice later this week, it will be Will Arnett's turn to play the iconic
character but in a not to slightly different way.
Warner
Bros. has released a series of images from Chris McKay's The Lego Batman Movie,
a spinoff of Phil Lord and Chris Miller's popular The Lego Movie centered on Batman,
who Arnett is voicing once again.
"The Batcave is
even better than we remembered it, it’s awesome," Arnett says. "But I
also love getting into the ho-hum day-to-day of being Batman and what it’s like
to fight crime each day. Like the idea of Batman oversleeping his alarm clock
makes me laugh. It really does humanize him."
There is no official description for the movie just
yet, but according to producers Lord and Miller,
the movie asks the question - Can Batman be happy? - While McKay teases
that, they are making "About a Boy as directed by [action director] Michael Mann."
Also starring Rosario
Dawson as Barbara Gordon, a.k.a. Batgirl, Ralph Fiennes as Alfred, Michael Cera
as Dick Grayson, a.k.a. Robin, Zach Galifianakis as Joker, and Mariah Carey as
Gotham City Mayor Marion Grange, The Lego Batman Movie opens in theaters on
February 10, 2017.
