British
actor/comedian Peter Serafinowicz (Guardians of the Galaxy, Spy) has landed the
lead role in Amazon's upcoming pilot for Ben Edlund's creation The Tick, which
Transcendence director and long-time Christopher Nolan director of photography
Wally Pfister will direct.
In this new take on the
titular blue superhero (Serafinowicz), the character is recovering from amnesia and ends up re-teaming with his sidekick Arthur (Griffin Newman) to fight
evil. The new show will feature some new characters including Arthur’s sister
Dot (Valorie Curry).
In the 2000's
live-action series, the superhero was played by Patrick Warburton, who is
expected to serve as an executive producer alongside Edlund who is also writing,
original executive producer Barry Josephson and Sony Pictures TV.
