Summit Entertainment has released a series of images from Peter Berg's upcoming disaster drama based on true events, Deepwater Horizon. Starring Mark Wahlberg the film retells the hellish moments of the crew working aboard the BP oilrig that on April 20, 2010 exploded and quickly became one of the biggest man-made disasters in the world.
Margin Call, All Is Lost, and A Most Violent Year writer/director J.C. Chandor
was originally set to direct the project but ended up departing over creative
differences, which was when Wahlberg asked his Lone Survivor director to step
in.
Opening in theaters on September 30, Deepwater Horizon also stars John
Malkovich, Dylan O'Brien, Gine Rodriguez, Kurt Russell, and Kate Hudson.
Based on the true events that occurred on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico
on April 20, 2010, the story chronicles the courage of those who worked on the
Deepwater Horizon and the extreme moments of bravery and survival in the face
of what would become one of the biggest man-made disasters in world history.
