Julianne Moore has
entered negotiations with 20th Century Fox to play the villainess in Kingsman
2, the sequel to last year's R-rated action hit directed by Matthew Vaughn
and starring Colin Firth, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Caine, Taron Egerton,
Sofia Boutella, Mark Strong, Mark Hamill, and Sophie Cookson.
Vaughn returns to direct
the sequel, which replaces the London setting for the United States, and continues
to follow Eggsy's (Egerton) adventures in the world of over the top and violent
spying.
Firth will not return
despite Vaughn's attempts to bring the dead character back to life. Some of the
ideas included flashbacks and a twin brother, but those were ultimately
discarded and Harry, a.k.a. Galahad (Firth) will remain dead.
The Academy Award
winning actress is currently attached to several projects, which could
determine whether she signs or not. One such project is Todd Haynes'
adaptation of author Brian Selznick's kids book, Wonderstruck.
Production is moving
forward towards a May start and a summer shoot, so Moore's decision should be
made public soon rather than later.
