Newcomer Jeremie Harris has landed a series regular
role on FX's upcoming X-men spinoff series, Legion. The Juilliard graduate is
set to play Ptonomy, an "outsider by nature, stand-offish and sardonic"
former child prodigy who feels like he's trapped in the past.
Harris' credits include roles on Baz Luhrmann's '70s
hip-hop drama on Netflix The Get Down, and HBO's Bessie.
The series follows David
Haller (Dan Stevens) a troubled young man who may be more than human. Since he
was a teenager, David has struggled with mental illness. Diagnosed as
schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years.
But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the
possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees might be real.
Legion also stars Parks and Recreation's Aubrey Plaza as Lenny, and Fargo's Jean
Smart and Rachel Keller as Melanie and as Syd, respectively.
Not set in
the X-Men movie universe, Legion will be executive produced by Noah Hawley (Fargo, Bones), who will also
write the pilot, Lauren Shuler Donner (X-Men: Days of Future Past),
Bryan Singer (X-Men), Simon Kinberg (The Martian), Jeph Loeb
(Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Jim Chory (Marvel’s Daredevil) and John Cameron (The Big Lebowski).
Legion begins production in March.
