Sylvia and Masters of
Sex's Annaleigh Ashford has joined the upcoming TV remake of The Rocky Horror
Picture Show. The actress will play Columbia, "the castle's feisty live-in
groupie played by Nell Campbell" in the original stage production and subsequent
movie.
The special two-hour
TV event follows sweethearts Janet Weiss (Victoria Justice) and
Brad Majors (Ryan McCartan), who stumble upon Dr. Frank-N-Furter’s (Laverne Cox) bizarre abode. Frank-N-Furter, a sexually ambiguous flirtatious alien
mad-scientist, is holding an annual, Transylvanian science convention to
showcase the birth of “Rocky Horror” – a fit, attractive man created solely to
fulfill Frank’s desires.
Although she has appeared
in both TV and film, it is for her stage work that Ashford is best known, receiving
several awards including Tony, Outer Critics Circle, Drama Desk, Clarence
Derwent, and Broadway.com Audience Choice Awards.
The remake also stars Adam
Lambert as Eddie, Reeve Carney Riff Raff, and Tim Curry as the event's
Criminologist Narrator. Curry played the original Dr. Frank-N-Furter in both the stage production and 1975 film.
