Victoria Justice (Victorious)
and Ryan McCartan (Royal Pains) have joined the cast of the upcoming television
remake of the stage and film productions of the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Justice will play the
reserved Janet Weiss, while McCartan will play the uptight Brad Majors. Susan
Sarandon and Barry Bostwick originally played the couple in the 1975 cult film.
The remake also stars
Laverne Cox (Orange Is The New Black) as Dr. Frank-N-Furter, and Reeve Carney (Spider-Man
Turn Off the Dark) and Staz Nair (Game of Thrones S6) in yet unknown roles.
THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW follows sweethearts Janet Weiss and Brad
Majors, who stumble upon Dr. Frank-N-Furter’s bizarre abode. Frank-N-Furter, a
sexually ambiguous flirtatious alien mad-scientist, is holding an annual,
Transylvanian science convention to showcase the birth of “Rocky Horror” – a
fit, attractive man created solely to fulfill Frank’s desires.
Lou Adler, an executive producer on the original film returns to produce
the remake with Emmy Award winner Kenny Ortega (Hocus Pocus, Newsies) set to
direct, choreograph, and executive produce.
