CBS has
released the official synopsis for the upcoming thirteenth Supergirl episode,
titled For The Girl Who Has Everything.
Kara’s
friends must find a way to save her life when a parasitic alien attaches itself
to her and traps her in a dream world where her family is alive and her home
planet was never destroyed. Also, Alex, Hank and the DEO must fend off a
Kryptonian attack while Kara is out of commission.
The episode is based on the 11th issue of Superman
Annual, titled For the Man Who Has Everything, which came out in 1985 and was written by Alan Moore with art by Dave
Gibbons.
In the comic, it's Superman's birthday and Batman,
Robin, and Wonder Woman travel to his Fortress of Solitude bearing gifts. When
they arrive however, the team is confronted with a catatonic Man of Steel who
is being kept a prisoner inside his own mind thanks Black Mercy, a rare alien plant
that traps its victims in a trance like state where their greatest dreams
become "reality". Our heroes quickly realize that the villainous
Mongul is behind Superman's state and are forced to intervene. Superman
eventually manages to shatter this idyllic dream and come to his senses, and proceeds
to beat the living daylights out of Mongul.
The story was turned into an episode of the Justice
League Unlimited cartoon.
For The
Girl Who Has Everything airs February 8 on CBS.
