While Star Wars: The
Force Awakens box office cavalcade continues, work on Rian Johnson's Star Wars:
Episode VIII is already being done. The plot of the movie is unsurprisingly
being kept a secret, but speaking to Vogue one of the franchise's recent stars
did offer a couple of details.
"[We’re] just
starting work on ‘Star Wars VIII,’ the next film, so I’m back to keeping
secrets again," Boyega said. "It’s great. Much darker, but we’re very
excited."
Boyega's character
Finn was in a sorry state by the end of The Force Awakens. His battle with Kylo
Ren (Adam Driver) has left its mark, but that, it seems, doesn't mean Finn will
just cross his arms and leave, quite the contrary.
"No, for [Force
Awakens] we really just took it scene by scene, there wasn’t a huge regime,"
Boyega continues. "My part in the next film will be much more physical so
I might be in the gym a bit more."
It will be
interesting to see how physical Finn's journey in the upcoming sequel will be.
Maybe Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) will hunt him down?
Star Wars: Episode
VIII opens in theaters on May 26, 2017.
