This past Saturday at
the BAFTA Awards Season Tea Party in Los Angeles, Entertainment Tonight caught
up with Mark Ruffalo, who seemingly confirmed that Marvel and Academy Award Winning
actress Cate Blanchett are in talks for the actress to join the upcoming third
entry in the Thor franchise, Ragnarok. The actor also let it slip that
Blanchett's talks are for the actress to play the villain in the movie.
"I'm
so thrilled," Ruffalo said of the possibility of having Blanchett join the Marvel
family. "I saw her at the Governors'
banquet here and heard that maybe she was circling, they were talking to her
about the part, so I ran up to her and I was like, 'Please, please, please make
this work!' She's just one of the best, and to have her play a baddie is going
to be really exciting."
Marvel has yet to
comment on casting Blanchett's possible casting, and knowing how they are we won't
be hearing anything until all the paperwork has been signed. As for Blanchett,
the actress recently revealed in an interview that she would "love"
to join the next Thor movie, and I for one hope she boards the project.
Thor: Ragnarok opens
in theaters on November 3, 2017.
That would be a great birthday present for me. I'll be 70 on November 3, 2017. Cate played villain Irina Spalko in "INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL". Hope she takes the job. Oh, yes I really liked the movie. Most haters didn't and still don't get it.
