The CW has cast Danish model and actress Stephanie
Corneliussen as Valentina Vostok, "a gifted
and beautiful Soviet physicist who will stop at nothing to defend her precious
‘Motherland.’ The
time travelling Legends team
will encounter Volstok during the height of the Cold War, and expect that she’s
working for immortal supervillain Vandal Savage (Casper Crump) to develop a
secret weapon. In order to stop her, the Atom (Brandon Routh) and Captain Cold
(Wentworth Miller) both try to win the Volstok’s heart."
In the DC comics, Vostok was a Soviet cosmonaut,
who defected to the US by stealing an experimental jet plane. After successfully
crossing the ocean, the plane crashed on the exact same spot in which the
original Doom Patrol had sacrificed themselves to save a town from the forces
of evil. After waking up from the accident, she found out that her body had become
possessed by the same negative energy that once belonged to Larry Trainor, the
original Negative Man.
Now calling herself Negative
Woman, Vostok joins the second Doom Patrol, before becoming the White Queen and
joining the UN-sponsored intelligence organization known as Checkmate.
Corneliussen's acting
career is short but she has appeared in Hello Ladies: The Movie, Hansel &
Gretel: Witch Hunters, The Exes, and more recently and more famously in Mr.
Robot.
