Humans and Robots are
like water and oil in entertainment, there's usually some sort of battle for
survival going on, with us trying to kill them in order to live, while they try
to obliterate us because of cold hard logic. In AMC's upcoming sci-fi drama however, things seems to go on the opposite direction (for now at least). In Humans, the
robots or Synths are a highly-developed A.I. servant that have become a must
have in every household and workplace, and not a killing machine.
Humans premieres on
June 18 on AMC, and stars William Hurt as a widow named George Millican, who becomes
like a father to his obsolete synth called Odi (Will Tudor), and Katherine
Parkinson as a working wife and mother called Laura, whose synth Anita (Gemma
Chan) is a little bit too human.
The eight-part drama is
a remake of a Swedish series called Äkta Människor, or Real Humans if the
translation is correct, and also stars Colin Morgan, Rebecca Front, Tom
Goodman-Hill, and Neil Maskel.
