Paramount Pictures
has released the first trailer for Michael Bay's upcoming drama based on the
non-fiction book by Mitchell Zuckoff. Titled 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of
Benghazi, the film follows the six members of a security team whom fought to
protect the US State Department Special Mission Compound and a nearby CIA
station called the Annex in Benghazi, Libya, from a terrorist attack.
Right off the bat you could guess this is a Michael Bay film even if I hadn't tell you. It has all
the Bay-isms you (not) want in a film that deals with such a hot topic. American flags, product placement (yes!), melodramatic
sunrises or sunsets, vivid colors, and explosions (so many) are "fine"
in the Transformers franchise, but when you're dealing with a hot topic like
this, I wonder if it will end up imposing itself over such a compelling and
tragic real life story.
Opening on January 15, 2016, 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi stars John Krasinski, James Badge Dale, Max Martini, Pablo Schreiber, David Denman, Toby Stephens, David Costabile, and Alexia Barlier.
