The battle for one of the two female leading roles in David Yates' (Harry
Potter) Harry Potter spinoff, Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them is over,
and Inherent Vice's Katherine Waterston has won.
We learned late last month that Warner Bros. and Yates had narrowed down
their search for Tina to Kate Upton, Elizabeth Debicki, and Waterston, and now
the studio has pronounced their decision to go with Waterston in the J.K.
Rowling penned original film and any potential sequels.
Tina is a witch living in New York, who crosses paths with Scamander when
he stops by the city while on his travels to find and document magical
creatures.
In addition to Waterston as Tina, and Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander,
there are two other crucial roles left uncast. Saoirse Ronan, Dakota
Fanning, Lili Simmons, and Alison Sudol are said to be in the run to
play Queenie, Tina's younger sister, while Steve Zissis, Zack Pearlman,
and Dan Fogler are reportedly in the run to play Jacob, Newt's rival.
Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them opens on November 18, 2016.
