With his sabbatical finished and two films (The Green
Inferno, Knock Knock) expected to arrive sometime this year, Eli Roth might be
on his way to direct his first monster movie, well you know what I mean.
According to Variety, Roth is in talks with Warner Bros. to direct Meg, an
adaptation of a Steve Allen novel of the same name, which centers on two men,
who go out to see to hunt for a Megaladon, a giant prehistoric species of shark
that lived during the Cenozoic Era (15.6-2.6 millions of years ago).
The project was previously at Disney, who after witnessing
Deep Blue See tank decided to pass on the project penned by Dean Georgaris (Lara
Croft Tom Raider: The Cradle of Life).
Variety points out that though Warner has been keen on
bringing Georgaris adaptation to the big screen for while now, Jurassic World was
what ultimately encouraged the studio to move forward.
