One of the many highlights in James Gunn's Guardians
of the Galaxy was Benicio Del Toro's quirky but all-powerful character,
Taneleer Tivan, better known as The Collector, who in the film explained to our
heroes what the Infinity Gems were.
While promoting the upcoming thriller Escobar: Paradise Lost,
Del Toro was asked of his return to the franchise.

According to Gunn, The Collector is in the sequel, but
things can always change until the cameras officially start rolling
The actor also elaborated on what he meant by further
developing the character, and revealed that while researching for the first film
he came across some interesting facts about The Collector that he would like to
dig deep into.
"One of the most interesting things that I learned about him is the
reasons that he's collecting," he explained. "He sees himself as
putting together Noah's Ark. He sees himself as having that responsibility.
He's collecting things, because eventually there's going to be an apocalypse in
the universe and he wants to get things to safety. That's
a really interesting aspect of the character."
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 opens on May 5, 2017.
