Seth
Rogen, and Evan Goldberg have set their eyes on a 1926 church in Lamy, New
Mexico to serve has a backdrop to their upcoming adaptation of Garth Ennis and
Steve Dillon's 90's comic, Preacher. However, the church is in such a
state of disrepair that the series "producers have paid to repair the
church's base structure", replace the broken stained-glass windows, "and
do some of electrical work", leaving out the church's exterior since they
will use a different building for the exteriors.
Preacher follows Jesse Custer
(Dominic Cooper), a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who merges with a
creature that has fallen from heaven and gives him the ability to make anyone
do anything he says. Armed with this heavenly power, Custer, his ex-girlfriend,
Tulip (Ruth Negga), and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun), embark
on a journey to find God and ask him why he abandoned the World.
Premiering during the
2015/2016 season, Preacher also stars, Ian Colletti (Arseface), Elizabeth
Perkins (Vyla Quinncannon), Lucy Griffiths (Emily), W. Earl Brown (Sheriff Hugo
Root), Jamie Anne Allman (Betsy Schenck), Derek Wilson (Donny Schenck), and Tom
Brooke (Fiore).
