From sleaze jackal in
Nightcrawler to broken boxer in Southpaw, Jake Gyllenhaal is at the top of his
game. Here is the first trailer for director Antoine Fuqua's upcoming boxing
drama, which will see Gyllenhaal as Billy “The Great” Hope, the Junior Middleweight
Boxing Champion of the World, who needs to make a professional and personal comeback
after tragedy strikes.
Be wary of the
trailer as it perhaps shows a little too much.
Scheduled to premiere
on July 31st, Southpaw also stars Forest Whitaker, Rachel McAdams, Oona
Laurence, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Rita Ora, Naomie Harris, Victor Ortiz, and
Clare Foley.
