Details on the next Spider-Man reboot are still fuzzy.
We don't know if Marvel and Sony are maintaining Peter Parker as Spidey, or if
they opt for a completely different and new route and go with fan favorite
Miles Morales, and if that's the case then this is all pointless, but until
something is confirmed expect actors from different ethnicities to pitch their
"love" for the character.
Many names have appeared in many people top picks to
play the next Spider-Man, and as luck will have it, mine included Bates Motel
star Freddie Highmore.
IGN recently caught up with the actor to talk about
third season of Bates Motel and asked him if he ever entertained the idea of
ever playing the new Spider-Man.
"Obviously I would love to be considered" Highmore said. "That would be fantastic, I guess we'll have to
see how things go"
The actor also joke that he "was going to try and make a comparison between Spider-Man and Norman Bates," the actor laughed. "But I'm not sure...it's probably best to stay clear of that one."
Finally, he said "I guess that's always something you would
think about," the actor said. "At the same time it would be such a
fantastic role... As with Norman Bates, some people would always say, 'Oh, is
it tricky playing Norman knowing he has this history behind him, and with
Anthony Perkins' classic performance that you will always be compared to?' I
guess similarly with the actor who ends up playing Spider-Man there will always
be comparisons made with Tobey Maguire's great performance and most recently
Andrew Garfield."
What do you think?
