You either hate it or love it, there
isn't a middle ground when it comes to the Transformers franchise. Critics hated
it, even some fans are beginning to see Michael Bay's tripe in disguise for
what it is, utter nonsense. However each movie made a truckload of money, with
the last two crossing the billion-dollar threshold, so it isn't surprising that
plans for more sequels were rapidly put into motion, with the fifth entry
already scheduled to be released in 2016.
While promoting his latest film The
Gambler, Mark Wahlberg confirmed that he will reprise his role as Cade Yeager
in the next couple Transformers installments, but also revealed that Michael
Bay may still be attached to direct.
"Yeah, I committed to doing a
couple more... you know I can’t speak for Mr. Bay, but something tells me we’ll
be on the set soon."
Bay recently revealed that he was dropping
out as director from the Transformers franchise, and would instead "flex
new muscles" and helm a movie about Benghazi, however after hearing this
who knows, maybe he had a change of heart?
