Late
last year the lengthy court dispute between MGM and the Kevin McClory (co-creator
of the character and organization) estate over the rights to use the iconic Bond
villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld, and the criminal enterprise SPECTRE was settled
and the studio was suddenly able to use both the character and organization in
the next Bond film.
When
Academy Award winning actor Christoph Waltz was revealed to be the villain in
the next film, many just assumed that he would be playing the iconic baddie,
and that Oberhauser (his character's name) was just a cover. It seems it isn't.
While
promoting Tim Burton's Big Eyes, the actor was asked by Collider if he was
Blofeld, to which the actor simply replied: "No. No. It’s more interesting
than that.”
