In its eighth week St. Vincent continues
to hold on to the top 10 chart making just under the two millions this weekend.
Alejandro Iñarritu's Birdman and Oscar contender makes slightly more in regards
to last week's countdown, but remains in the same spot. Another Oscar contender,
David Fincher's Gone Girl is gone from the top five. Yet another Oscar
contender makes its top 10 debut, director James Marsh Stephen Hawking's biopic premiered four weeks ago, but only now made it to the top 10 chart. Surprisingly Dumb and Dumber To is still around and strongly I might
add. Horrible Bosses 2 fails to hit its projections but still manages to sneak
into the top 5. Interstellar is on cruising speed adding yet another $100
million (give or take) since last week.
Despite its colorful World Big Hero 6
is far from being a smashing hit. Unlike last year's Frozen, Penguins
of Madagascar opened slowly. The predictions were for the film to hit $35
million mark, but it fell short, $10 million short. As expected The Hunger Games: Mockingjay
- Part 1 continues to reign over all. The third installment in the franchise
has made well over two-hundred million in both North-American and international
markets. It's still shy of the previous entry in the franchise, Catching Fire, which
made $296 this time last year, but there is more than enough time to reach and
surpass that number.
