Daredevil Is "Much Darker Than Anything" That Marvel Has Ever Done Says Charlie Cox

Last night while attending the premiere of his new film The Theory of Everything, actor Charlie Cox, who is set to play the Man Without Fear in Marvel's upcoming Netflix show, revealed that he wasn't quite prepared for all the passionate fans attending this past NYCC. The actor also spoke a little bit about his preparation process to play Daredevil, and teases that he has never seen anything like this from Marvel before.

"I've read comics after comics after comics — I've never read so many comics in my life, and we're finding moments from the comics to reference in the show. We're trying to make a show that's new and much, much darker than anything I've ever seen Marvel do before."

Cox elaborates on what will make this new take on the character "much, much darker".

"He's going out and he's taking the law into his own hands, and he doesn't know if he can stop. He might be addicted to it."

"Marvel's Daredevil" follows the journey of Matt Murdock, who was blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, now fighting against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the super hero Daredevil in modern day Hell's Kitchen, New York City.

Marvel's first original series on Netflix is Executive Produced by series Showrunner Steven S. DeKnight ("Spartacus," "Buffy: The Vampire Slayer," "Angel") and Drew Goddard ("Cabin in the Woods," "Lost," "Buffy The Vampire Slayer," in addition to writing the first two episodes of "Marvel's Daredevil"), along with Marvel TV's Jeph Loeb ("Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," "Smallville," "Heroes").

"Marvel's Daredevil" is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix
