Chloe Bennet Says Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 2 Will Be Darker; Adrianne Palicki Talks Playing Mockingbird

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Chloe Bennet, aka Skye the 0-8-4, reveals in a recent interview that her character and the new season will both be a lot darker.

"It's going, man! We are full swing in Season 2, and it's a darker season. I think there's a lot more surprises coming and Skye's in search of her parents -- Kyle [MacLachlan] got cast as my father! And we have a lot of new characters this season, so fans are going to be very, very excited because it doesn't disappoint."

When asked how her character changed from her one season to the other, the actress says that due to the circumstances Skye had to grow up.

"After the end of [Season1] and HYDRA, Skye's definitely been through a lot more. She's been training with May -- not only physically, but mentally, she's in a whole 'nother place, and she's grown. She's a lot more mature. She's still got that smartass core, but she's much more mature and more grounded this season, and a lot darker. She's in pursuit of finding out who she is and what she is and who her parents are and what they've done and the truth about her family and why Coulson was carving weird stuff at the end of the season. So, we'll find out!"

In another interview, Adrianne Palicki, who is set to play Bobbi Morse, aka Mockingbird in the recently returned season, reveals that she signed up for more than one episode, and that perhaps her character will fly on to do other things within the MCU. The actress also reveals that she felt a certain trepidation about signing on to pay Mockingbird as it would mean that she would be locked to character and wouldn't be able play a different one sometime down the line.

“There’s fear in it too. I know if I play this character, I probably would never play another Marvel character. There’s different questions you have to ask, and you ask about that too. Where is this character going? All those silly fears that you get being locked into something, but I have to say working with this group of people has been amazing. These producers and show runners are fantastic and I trust them implicitly. Marvel’s been really fun to work with as well, so I’m looking forward to it and I hope it’s a long run for us.”
