Grant Gustin Says The Flash Is A Fanboy And More

Speaking with IGN, Grant Gustin, who we will be seeing as The Flash in The CW's Arrow spin-off, said that he had so much fun playing the character, which should help capture Barry's essence.

“Barry’s just excited by all of this,” he said. “He’s a fanboy! And I don’t have to hide my excitement as I play the role, so it’s really fun to play with.”

Gustin also spoke about Barry's personality and his excitement about having superpowers.

“At the same time though, it’s in a reality-based world, so there is an aspect of him that’s a little worried about what’s happening to his body. But at the same time, once he starts to get a handle on it, it’s the coolest thing that’s happened to anybody, as far as Barry is concerned.”

The actor also spoke about Barry keeping his alter-ego a secret from the rest of the characters, and how many of them will in fact know who he is, which judging by the trailer it seems to be quite a few.

“We’re not going to play the same game that they played on Arrow, where it was a secret. There will be some characters that Barry’s specifically trying to keep it from, but his circle – for the most part – is going to know that he’s The Flash.”

It has been established that Arrow and The Flash will crossover if and when needed, in fact Oliver, aka Arrow will make a cameo in the pilot episode, but Gustin doesn't know who else might pop-up in future episodes.

“I don’t know which characters, but there are going to be crossovers for sure between the two shows. I don’t know who it’s going to be, but yes, that’s gonna happen.”

The Flash stars Grant Gustin (Barry Allen/Flash), Candice Patton (Iris West), Jesse L. Martin (Detective West), Rick Cosnett (Detective Eddie Thawne), Danielle Panabaker (Caitlin Snow) Tom Cavanagh (Harrison Wells) andJohn Wesley Shipp (Dr. Henry Allen).

Barry partners with S.T.A.R. Labs and dedicates his life to protect the innocent. For now, only a few close friends and associates know that Barry is literally the fastest man alive, but it won’t be long before the world learns what Barry Allen has become…The Flash.
