Syfy is getting in on the comic book adaptation craze,
as according to THR, the network is preparing to adapt Frank Miller's Ronin as
a mini-series as well as Oni Press' Letter 44 to series. The Wrap also reports
that the channel is also going to adapt to series, Image Comics Clone.
First published in 1983, Ronin tells the story of a
legendary and dishonored 13th century samurai, who is mystically thrown into a
corrupt 21st century New York City to avenge the death of his master and regain
his honor, but for that he must kill the ancient demon Agat.
Letter 44 was created by Charles Soule and Alberto
Albuquerque and tells the story of newly elected President Stephen Blades, who
discovers a letter from his predecessor saying that NASA had discovered an
alien construction on the asteroid belt and that the astronaut crew sent to
investigate is reaching the site.
Clone was created by David Schulner and chronicles Dr.
Luke Taylor's life that is about to get shattered when a bloody clone of
himself arrives at his door when says that he is one of many that are after his
wife and their unborn child.
Syfy is currently looking for a writer for Ronin, but
already has Terminator 3 director, Jonathan Mostow to pen and write the pilot
episode of Letter 44, while David Schulner will write and executive produce
Clone alongside The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman.
