The hero position J.J. Abrams
Star Wars: Episode VII is rather empty considering that Adam Driver is getting
nearer and nearer to play the villain. According to Variety the short list of
actors for the lead character has been narrowed to just five names, those of John
Boyega (Attack the Block), Ed Speleers (Eragon), Jesse Plemons (Breaking Bad),
and theater actors Matthew James Thomas and Ray Fisher, but since auditions are
still ongoing the list can always be changed.
The news site also reports that
the first film will have as its lead a Jedi apprentice, which is opposite to
Michael Arndt’s initial draft that focused on Han and Leia’s offspring, which
will now according to the reports be moved to a supporting role. Apparently J.J.
and Kasdan are looking to change from the caucasian leads of the past six films
and give it a more multiracial cast, hence the initial delay.
Variety also report that the
scheduled has been delayed again and the film will kick of production at
Pinewood Studios in the late second or early third quarters.
Star Wars: Episode VII is
expected to hit theaters on December 18th, 2015.
