A few weeks ago we reported that
directors Mark Andrews (Pixar’s Brave), Jonathan Levine (Warm Bodies), Nikolaj
Arcel (A Royal Affair), and Dean Israelite (Welcome to Yesterday) were in the
list of possible directors for Marvel’s Doctor Strange, and now a new name has
been added, that of director Scott Derrickson who is most known for his work in
the horror genre, Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Hellraiser: Inferno,
Deliver Us from Evil and the big budget remake of the sci-fi classic The Day
the Earth Stood Still.
In addition or should I say in
subtraction, THR reporter Borys Kit has tweeted, “Being told Mark Andrews
(Brave), Jonathan Levine (Warm Bodies) still on the shortlist,” which means
that Nikolaj Arcel and Dean Israelite are out?
At this point it’s unclear to see
what kind of director the studio is looking for as neither of the reported
above have seemingly anything in common. Scribes Jon Aibel and Glenn Berger
from Kung Fu Panda are being eyed to pen the script so we may assume that the
studio is keen on making a lighter Doctor Strange, Sorcerer Supreme.
