David S. Goyer Gives An Update On Constantine

NBC’s adaptation of Alan Moore’s Constantine is moving ahead at a frightening speed. In just three months the network ordered the pilot, a director was found and the cast has been almost assembled to bring the story of John Constantine, detective of the occult to the small screen.

In an interview to I Am Rogue, writer and executive producer David Goyer confirmed that production is set to start next week.

"We start shooting next week, we only have four series regulars but we've cast them all now. I'm proud to say that Constantine is actually being played by a British guy. Matt Ryan and he is going to have blond hair."

When asked if Constantine was going to chain smoke and give away to hid old habits, Goyer replied:

"That's a tricky one on network TV. We're negotiating right now. He will have his signature trench coat and skinny tie. I would say that the show clings more closely to the source material than the film did. Even though the film was interesting."

Goyer then added that the series will follow the source material closely and that there might be some surprise appearances from other, darker DC characters.

"Quite a few other characters from the comic books and possibly from the DC universe, should we move forward, will be showing up.....I think we would try to bring in some of the other occult figures."

Constantine will star Matt Ryan as the titular character, Lucy Griffiths as Liv, Harold Perrineau as Manny and Charles Halford as Chas.
