Well Barbarella fans here are
possibly some good news as it seems that a series might be moving over to
Amazon Studios. Writers Neal Purvis (Skyfall) and Robert Wade (Skyfall) penned
the pilot, which will be taken by Amazon so they can look for a showrunner.
Barbarella is/was a graphic novel
created by Jean-Claude Forest, which in 1968 was adapted to the screen by Roger
Vadim and starred his wife at the time Jane Fonda in the titular role.
Barbarella is often criticized by
feminist groups because the main character, Barbarella is a space adventurer
that more often than not engages in various amorous encounters with aliens
across the galaxy.
I don’t know what the new spin will
be, but if they stick to the film, then they are in for a world of troubles.
Director Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive)
is on board as an executive producer and was previously attached to direct.
