Gal Gadot Talks About The Crass Commentaries And Training For Wonder Woman In Batman vs. Superman

When it was first announced that Israeli actress Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious) was going to be starring opposite Ben Affleck (Batman) and Henry Cavill (Superman) as Wonder Woman in the upcoming Batman vs. Superman, some crass comments were made regarding her lack of physical resemblance with the character.

In her first interview as Wonder Woman, the actress talked to Good Evening With Gai Pines (entertainment show in Israel), and addressed some of the more stupid observations regarding the difference in bust size from her to the character.

“Hmm. I represent the Wonder Women of the new world. Breasts… anyone can buy for 9,000 shekels [Ed: Israeli currency] and everything is fine. By the way, Wonder Woman is amazonian, and historically accurate amazonian women actually had only one breast. So, if I’d really go “by the book”…it’d be problematic.”

In the interview the actress also spoke about her training routine for the role:
“It’s the physical preparations that I’m starting now. A very serious training regime – Kung Fu, kickboxing, swords, jujutsu, Brazilian…1,000 and 1 things…I’ll gain body mass.”

When people only know an actor/actress from one or two things they tend to make brash judgments about what type of characters said actor/actress can do, and in this case, yes Gadot is thin in the Fast & Furious franchise where she plays Gisele, but let’s take a moment an consider the fact that she was part of the Israeli Defense Force where she was an athletic trainer, so with that in mind, do you still think she can’t pull off Wonder Woman? As for the stupidity about her breasts not being big enough, this isn’t Baywatch, besides if we are going to be too literal about the physical resemblance between the comic books and the live-action adaptations, than I want to see more men with square jaws in the next film.
