This year Fox gave us the solo Wolverine film that the character deserved and we wanted, and is planning to continue to expend their comic books adaptations with the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past and the follow-up X-Men: Apocalypse, more Wolverine projects and the X-Force film. But not all of their heroes have an X before their name; Fox is also developing a new Fantastic Four film by Chronicle director Josh Trank, and apparently the reboot will provide more than just another adventure for the team as is being speculated that the X-Men will also be part of the film.
According to a report on a
website focused on investments, The Motley Fool, Fox is not only planning to
combine both the Fantastic Four and the X-Men in one film but they also say
that the story will be based on the 1987 four issue comic entitled Fantastic
Four vs. X-Men.
Fox owns the rights to the
Fantastic Four and the X-Men characters, who are among the most well-known
comic book heroes of all time. After multiple movies in their respective
franchises, Fox has now decided to combine the Fantastic Four and the X-Men for
an “Avengers”-style movie that could pay off huge for shareholders.
Based on a 1987 four issue comic
called Fantastic Four vs. X-Men, the movie will see the characters against each
other because of secrets regarding the Fantastic Four’s origin.
Fantastic Four vs. X-Men was
written by Chris Claremont (New Mutants, Uncanny X-Men), penciled by Jon
Bogdanove (Superman: The Man of Steel) and inked by Terry Austin (Uncanny X-Men).
In the comic series, “Extreme
times call for extreme measures and the X-Men are willing to go to any lengths
to save the life of their teammate Kitty Pryde. But are they willing to strike
a deal with Doctor Doom? Their search for a cure brings them into conflict with
the Fantastic Four! Also, will the contents of a long lost diary from Reed
Richards' past destroy the Fantastic Four?” – Comic Vine
