As
if there was any doubt, R2-D2 will indeed be once again joining the
heroes of the galaxy far far away, as for his robotic counterpart
C3PO there were some rumors but nothing yet. This next appearance of
R2-D2 will make him the longest running while being relevant
character in the Star Wars franchise.
Last
week a picture of director J.J. Abrams, producer Kathleen Kennedy,
R2-D2 and two other gents was sent via Twitter by Bad Robot, and now
we know that other men in the picture are Lee Towersey and Oliver
Steeples, who are members of the R2-D2 Builders Club and managed to
impress the producer when they showcased their work this Summer in
Germany. Because of the quality of the work when it came time to add
members to the effect team, Kennedy who was impressed by the quality
of the work put on a good word and the two of them are now working on
the film.
