Despite a rough return to the movie business, actor Arnold Schwarzenegger will soon be resurrecting some of his previous characters, like a Conan sequel and Twins. This sequel to the 1988 comedy starring Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito, now called Triplets will reunite the twins of the first film and add a new brother to the mix, Eddie Murphy.
Last
year Josh Gad and Ryan Dixon were tapped to write the screenplay but after that
any news on the project development was null. Now it seems that there are some
news from Gad himself.
While
promoting his latest film, Frozen, Gad said that the new film will honor the
previous one at the same time it updates itself so not to alienate modern audiences.
“We’re
very reverential to the original, but have our tongue firmly in our cheek. As
it needs to be, it’s very modernized. It’s taking them into the new world and
it’s acknowledging that comedy’s changed a lot in 20 years.” He also laughed
and pointed out, “If you saw Twins and it was released as a movie currently,
you’d be like, ‘This is really strange,’ so we honor that and we respect it,
but we also play on it.”
Gad
went on to say that he is already working on the second draft, but a date for
the beginning of production is at this point unkown.
