Amazon has picked Electric Dreams:
The World of Philip K. Dick, a 10-episode anthology miniseries from Ronald D.
Moore ("Battlestar Galactica"), Michael Dinner ("Justified"),
Bryan Cranston ("Breaking Bad"), and Sony Pictures TV.
Each episode of the anthology series will be a
self-contained drama adapted and contemporized for the modern global audience
by a creative team of British and American writers. The series will both
illustrate Philip K. Dick’s prophetic vision and celebrate the enduring appeal
of the prized sci-fi novelist’s works, which include The Man in the High
Castle, A Scanner Darkly, and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, the novel in which Ridley Scott's Blade Runner is
based on.
"This is an electric dream come true," Cranston said last May. "We are so thrilled to be
able to explore and expand upon the evergreen themes found in the incredible
work of this literary master."
The actor is set to star in one episode of the series, which he is
also executive producing alongside Dinner and Moore, whom are writing.
"As a long-time fan of
Philip K. Dick’s work, it’s a tremendous honour and thrill to be part of this
series," Moore
said last year. "His short
stories are a treasure-trove of material for artists to draw from and I think
this will be a very exciting project."
At Amazon, Electric Dreams: The World of Philip
K. Dick joins The Man in the High Castle, another series based on the famed
writer's words.
Also executive producing are James Degus ("Sneaky
Pete"), Isa Dick Hackett ("The Adjustment Bureau"), Kalen Egan
("The Man in The High Castle"), Christopher Tricarico ("The Man
in The High Castle"), Maril Davis ("Outlander"), as well as David
Kanter ("The Revenant") and Matt DeRoss ("The End of the
Tour").
