Netflix
has released the first trailer for their new hour-long original series The OA.
The
eight-episode series centers around Prairie Johnson, a blind girl who went
missing several years ago. Now in her 20s, Johnson ("Brit Marling") returns
to her small-town home with her sight fully restored much to amazement of her
family and community. The plot thickens when she refuses to tell her parents
and the FBI where she has been and what was done to her during the time she was
gone.
Also
starring Emory Cohen ("Brooklyn"), Scott Wilson ("The Walking
Dead"), Phyllis Smith ("The Office"), Jason Isaacs ("Fury"),
Brendan Meyer ("The Guest"), Alice Krige ("Star Trek: First
Contact"), Patrick Gibson ("The Tudors"), and newcomers Ian
Alexander and Brandon Perea, The OA premieres on the streaming giant on
December 16.
From
Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij, the visionary filmmakers behind Sound of My
Voice and The East, comes a powerful, mind-bending tale about identity, human
connection and the borders between life and death. The Netflix original series
The OA is an odyssey in eight chapters produced in partnership with Plan B
Entertainment, Netflix and Anonymous Content. The groundbreaking series offers
audiences a singular experience that upends notions about what long-format
stories can be.
